Summer oranges Valentia-Late / Laranjas valencia, Kg

Note: Currently, the Valencia-Late summer oranges have been ripening on the tree for 15 months. After 2 summers with lots and lots of sun, the skins of the fruits no longer look quite as beautiful. However, inside there is still a beautifully ripe, juicy fruit.

Depending on the season, there are natural discolorations of the peel, ranging from light yellow to orange and green at the stems. The green chlorophyll (leaf green) is only broken down in the peel when temperatures are low.

Variety description:
The Valencia-Late summer oranges are a juice orange intended for the summer. It differs from the well-known Navel oranges by having a higher juice yield and more pulp.
Resulting from an above-average ripening period, a more robust segment skin protects the juice contained within.
The segment skin is thicker than that of the well-known Navel oranges, as this variety does not contain any juice vesicles inside the segments.
While the segment membranes of Navel oranges often tear when divided, these are more stable in the summer orange. You will notice this when eating the fruit.
Due to the absence of the wafer-thin juice vesicles that make up the pulp in Navel oranges, you will notice when juicing the summer oranges that almost no pulp is left in the juicer. The entire fruit ends up as juice in your glass!

Good to know:
The Valencia-Late is a late variety that is harvested in summer when many other types of oranges are no longer available. It is therefore the perfect summer treat straight from the tree.
