Persimmons impress with their natural sweetness, soft texture and a delicate aroma reminiscent of honey and apricot.
The persimmons are harvested while still firm to ensure they survive transport. The ripening process is unpredictable ! Therefore, your persimmons may arrive already ready to eat, meaning they will feel very soft, like a water-filled balloon. However, for others, it may take days or even two to three weeks to ripen. The fruit continues to ripen and should only be eaten when fully ripe and soft! When persimmons are truly ripe, the flesh can be scooped out with a spoon. They should feel soft and yielding, with a consistency and flavor similar to jam. Eating them unripe, before they are red and completely soft, can be disappointing!
