Large Papaya / Mamão

This large papaya, known as Mamão in Portugal and Brazil, delights with its tender, light orange to pink flesh and a pleasantly sweet, creamy flavor. Growing up to 25 cm long and weighing approximately 1.3–1.7 kg, it's a true fruit highlight.

Perfectly matured for the best taste
These papayas are only harvested when they have reached optimal ripeness – this way, they remain transportable but continue to ripen and develop their full flavor. Signs of natural ripening include dark spots on the skin and a soft stem – neither of which affects the delicious flavor, but rather makes the fruit truly sweet.

Enjoyment tip:
The top part of the fruit can have a slightly bitter taste and is generally not eaten. Papaya is best enjoyed on its own, as a fruity side dish, or in smoothies and desserts.
