Allspice (also called clove pepper, Jamaica pepper or spice grain) is a spicy spice with a taste reminiscent of cloves. It is extremely versatile. It gives dishes a wonderfully hot, ethereally spicy note and thus creates a special, exotic taste.
The spice is obtained from the dried, unripe fruits of the tree of the same name, which look like peppercorns. Allspice can be used whole or ground.
