The orange-golden berry, grown in South America, is known for its high nutritional content. Cape gooseberries (physalis) go by a variety of names such as golden berry, Andean berry, Andean cherry, Aztec berry, or Peruvian cherry, to name but a few. Cape gooseberries are rich in vitamins, such as vitamin C, B1, and provitamin A, and contain bioflavonoids and iron. Physalis grow on small herbaceous shrubs that often only reach a height of 0.5–1.5 m. Harvested in the highlands of Peru, cape gooseberries are hand-picked and sorted. This guarantees one of the best qualities. These cape gooseberries are a pure natural product, without any additives, sugar, or preservatives.
Cape gooseberries are cleaned in water and gently dried (45°C). This process preserves their natural raw materials and valuable nutrients.
The taste is sweet and sour. Dried physalis are deliciously soft to the bite and have an outstanding flavor thanks to their slight acidity and unique aroma.
