Bee pollen is an excellent food and is highly valued.
How do bees collect flower pollen?
While collecting nectar, bees come into contact with the stamens of the flower. The falling pollen gets stuck in the bees' hair coat. The bees, now more or less "powdered", systematically comb this dust out of the hair coat using their legs. So that the pollen does not simply fall off the bee when combing, it is moistened with a little nectar so that the pollen literally sticks together. The pollen ultimately collects on the back pair of legs in the form of a so-called pollen panties.
The bee strips off her pollen through a simple pollen grid at the entrance hole of the hive and is collected there.
