The intense aroma of fresh apples combines harmoniously with the delicate melting of small pieces of chestnut. National apples and chestnuts from the northeastern region of Trás-os-Montes are used. The fruit spreads are made from fresh fruit from our own fruit farm.
The recipes were devised by monastery women at a time when gelling agents, preservatives, artificial flavors and colors were unthinkable. To this day they contain no colorings or preservatives and no flavor enhancers. Only ripe fruits and sugar/honey are used.
Over the last two decades, Beirabaga has won many medals and awards in various national competitions for products made from traditional Portuguese fruits.
