Assam tea refers to a type of tea from the growing region of the same name in northeast India. Black Assam teas are characterized by a strong, usually malty taste reminiscent of honey. They are very productive and relatively insensitive to hard water. Assam teas are the main component of the well-known East Frisian blends.
