Ground guarana seeds with up to 6% caffeine are bound to the tannins they contain, making them slower and more lasting. It has a similar effect to coffee.
1 glass of orange juice and half a teaspoon (1g) of guarana - the power drink is ready.
Guarana is probably the plant with the highest caffeine content (up to 6%, with an average of 45mg caffeine per gram). It contains the purine derivatives theobromine and theophylline. In addition, up to 12% tannins, mainly proanthocyanidins and approx. 6% catechin and 3% epicatechin. The effect is like coffee, but because the caffeine is bound to the tannins, the effect sets in more slowly and lasts longer. Finely ground, it dissolves well in food and drinks.
