Vanilla beans, organic Bourbon vanilla / Vanilla beans, 3 pieces is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
Plump, soft, and highly aromatic vanilla beans from Madagascar: this Bourbon vanilla is carefully selected and delivered in a practical aroma-preserving glass jar with a natural cork stopper. The pods are approx. 16–17 cm long, soft, and rich in the unmistakable, warm, sweet aroma of real vanilla.
The vanilla beans come from the orchid species Vanilla planifolia. After harvesting, the pods, which are initially yellow-green, undergo an elaborate processing and ripening process. Only then do they develop their dark color, supple consistency, and complex vanilla aroma. A vanilla bean contains a multitude of different aromatic substances – including natural vanillin as a particularly characteristic component.
Versatile in the kitchen
Real vanilla is a classic for baking and refining desserts. It is excellent for cakes, pastries, creams, pudding, ice cream, rice pudding, and other sweet dishes. Coffee, cocoa, smoothies, or homemade liqueurs can also be flavored with real vanilla.
To use, slice the vanilla bean lengthwise and scrape out the fine vanilla seeds with a knife. However, the scraped-out pod is far too good to throw away.
Using vanilla beans completely
For homemade vanilla sugar: Simply place the scraped-out pod into a sealable container with sugar. Gradually, the sugar will absorb the natural vanilla aroma.
As vanilla powder: Dried-out pods can be finely ground and used, for example, for baking or for flavoring coffee.
Making dried-out pods supple again: Place the pod in an airtight container overnight along with a small piece of apple. The moisture can help it become a little softer. However, do not leave the vanilla in the container with the apple for longer than 2–3 days, so that it does not absorb too much of the apple's aroma.
Well protected in the aroma glass
The vanilla beans are delivered airtight in an aroma glass with a natural cork stopper. This keeps their precious aroma protected as well as possible. Store the vanilla in a cool place at approximately 15–18 °C and away from light.
Good to know: With real vanilla, a white, crystalline coating may form on the surface over time. This can be crystallized natural vanillin. This is a typical characteristic of high-quality vanilla and not automatically a sign of mold.
Why Bourbon vanilla?
The term Bourbon vanilla stands for Vanilla planifolia from the traditional growing regions in the Indian Ocean, particularly Madagascar, the Comoros, and Réunion. Today, Madagascar is especially known for its intensely fragrant Bourbon vanilla.
With its warm, sweet, and multi-layered aroma, real Madagascar vanilla is a high-quality ingredient for anyone who relies on natural vanilla flavor when baking and cooking.
