Summer oranges Valentia-Late / Laranjas valencia, Kg

Note: The Valentia-Late summer oranges have currently been ripening on the tree for 17 months. After two summers with lots and lots of sun, the peels of the fruit no longer look so appealing. But inside, they are still beautifully ripe and juicy.

Depending on the season, the skin of the heads naturally changes color, from light yellow to orange to green. The green chlorophyll (leaf green) in the skin only breaks down at low temperatures.

Variety description:
Valentia-Late summer oranges are a juice orange intended for summer use. They differ from the well-known Navel oranges, which have more pulp, due to their higher juice yield.
As a result of an exceptionally long ripening period, a more robust skin of the segments protects the juice contained within.
The skin of the segments is thicker than that of the well-known navel oranges, as this variety does not contain juice vesicles inside the segments.
While the membranes of navel orange segments often tear when cut, those of summer oranges are more stable. This is noticeable when eating the fruit.
Because navel oranges lack the thin, fibrous vesicles that make up the pulp, you'll notice that almost no pulp remains in the juicer when juicing summer oranges. The entire fruit is in the glass as juice!

Good to know:
The Valencia Late is a late-ripening variety, harvested in summer when many other orange varieties are no longer available. It is therefore the perfect summer treat, straight from the tree.
