Latin: Myristici Sem. Bio dead.
Botanical: Myristica fragrans Houttuyn

Real nutmeg. Freshly grated nutmeg is usually used in cooking because its aroma is slightly volatile. Its effect is best when freshly grated.
The spice is used in potato dishes, soups and stews, in pastries and often in meat dishes such as meatballs and roast pork.
It is also suitable as a seasoning for spinach, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, kohlrabi, red cabbage and parsnips.
