Naturally sweet, aromatic, and full of Portuguese tradition – a delicious piece of the Algarve!
These delicious dried figs come from Quinta da Fornalha, a traditional family farm in the eastern Algarve, near Castro Marim. Here, figs are cultivated and processed with a wealth of experience, passion, and respect for nature.
The figs are characterized by their small to medium size, their natural sweetness, and their pleasantly fruity aroma. The drying process concentrates the fruit's natural sugars, resulting in an intense, honey-like flavor. Their pleasantly soft to slightly chewy texture makes them a special treat.
Quinta da Fornalha – Traditional Fig Cultivation
Quinta da Fornalha is nestled in the Mediterranean landscape of the Eastern Algarve. The land has been linked to the family for generations. Today, the farm focuses on organic farming, sustainable management, and preserving traditional cultivation methods.
Figs, in particular, play an important role at the Quinta. Thanks to the fig varieties grown there, fruit can even be harvested twice a year – a peculiarity not common everywhere in Europe.

What makes these figs special
The small to medium size makes these dried figs especially practical for snacking and versatile use in the kitchen. As is typical for natural dried fruits, color, shape, size, and consistency may vary from fruit to fruit.
Occasionally, a light, whitish coating may form on the surface. This is often naturally crystallized fruit sugar – a normal process for dried figs.
