Pointed cabbage "Heart cabbage" is the literal translation for the popular "couve de coração" here in the Algarve. Particularly popular with those who want to stay slim, low-calorie cabbage offers plenty of vitamins, minerals and nutrients. Since it contains a lot of fiber, it can stimulate digestion. Pointed cabbage also contains a lot of so-called ascorbigen, which is converted into vitamin C when cooked. With only 20 kilocalories per 100 grams, it is also - like all types of cabbage - very low in calories.
