During the summer bee migration, beehives are brought to the Serra de Portugal mountains. There the bees find a spring-like climate in the middle of summer.
The following heathers dominate in the higher altitudes of the Serra de Portugal: Queiró (Erica umbellata), Torga (Erica australis) and white heather (Erica lusitana). The bees collect dark-colored honey with its characteristic taste from the flowers of these heather herbs. A honey of the best quality.
