The name - Fruit of the 5 Elements - refers to the different flavors that this fruit contains. The fruit is a sour-tasting berry that also contains elements of sweet, spicy and mild aroma.
These 5 flavors correspond to the elements of wood, fire, earth, metal and water. In East Asia there is a tradition of using schisandra fruits that goes back over 2,000 years. The fruits can be eaten as is (muesli / pure) or brewed as tea.
Schisandra fruit tea:
- Soak 5 grams of dried berries in water overnight.
- Drain the next morning.
- Bring the berries to the boil with 250 ml of water.
- Let it steep for 15 minutes.
