Latin: Curcumae longae Rhiz. Organic powder
Botanical: Curcuma longa L.
Turmeric, also known as goldenseal, is pleasantly hot, spicy and slightly bitter and colors all dishes with its bright yellow.
The use of turmeric has been documented in India for 4,000 years. The plant is considered sacred and was already one of the most important spices back then.
In the traditional Indian healing art of Ayurveda, it is considered one of the “hot” spices and is said to have a cleansing and energizing effect.
For all dishes that need an exotic touch.
Combines well in rice dishes (colors them beautifully yellow), in vegetable pans, (combines well with coconut) stews, pasta dishes, soups and sauces and with lentils.
The earthy spice also goes very well with eggplant, spinach, chicken and fish.
Turmeric is not water-soluble, so use olive oil, or combine it with milk, quark or yogurt for smoothies.
