The fresh fruits have small, fine spines, so make sure to only prepare them with gloves!
Unfortunately, it is not possible to de-stem the fruits as they would not survive transport without preservatives. Sweet and delicate in taste. Cut the fruit lengthways and scoop out. Or peel, slice or dice. An exotic delicacy. The taste: sweet and delicate. 500g contains approx. 6-8 pieces.

    The fruits contain approximately 86% water.
    Of vitamins approx. 30 - 40 mg/100g vitamin C.
    Prickly pears also contain potassium, magnesium, calcium and sodium as well as small amounts of manganese, zinc, iron, copper, nickel and chromium.
    Also included are beta-carotene (beta-carotene), alpha-tocopherol (vitamin E), phylloquinone (vitamin K1), as well as traces of the vitamins thiamine (B1), riboflavin (B2), niacin (B3), pantothenic acid (B5) and pyridoxine (B6 ) about the ingredients of the prickly pear.
    They also contain carotenoids, flavonols (flavonoid group), an extremely high proportion of pectin and amino acids.

    The pulp has a sweet, fine-seed taste and is characterized by a high pH value (5.3 to 7.1) and a very low acidity compared to other fruits.

    The acid content is in fact only 0.05 to 0.18% of the citric acid content.

    How to eat prickly pears:
    1. Cut the fruit lengthwise and scoop it out.
    2. Or you peel the fruit.
    To do this, stick a fork into the fruit to hold it. Cut off the top and bottom of the fruit.
    Using a knife, score the shell approx. 5 mm in two three places and then peel it off from top to bottom.
    3. You can also brush the fruits under running water, after which they can be easily peeled off.
    Cut the pulp into slices or cubes.
