Brazilian Guava / Feijoa, unidade
Brazilian Guava / Feijoa, unidade is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
Packaging: 300 grams.
The feijoa, a relative of the guava, produces small, egg-shaped berries, 4-8 cm long and weighing 20-50 g. Their tough, leathery, greenish skin is covered with small, wrinkled growths on the surface. Beneath is a jelly-like, firm, whitish to cream-colored flesh (like that of peaches and apricots), with small, soft, yellowish, edible seeds that are eaten.
The fruit has a peculiarly pungent aroma and a delicate, sour-sweet, spicy flavor reminiscent of pineapple or gooseberries. It almost tastes slightly perfumed. Its vitamin C content is remarkable. Feijoas are usually eaten raw after being washed and peeled. They are cut in half and scooped out using a spoon.
