The fruit spreads are made from fresh fruit from our own fruit farm. The recipes for these fruit spreads were devised by monastery women at a time when gelling agents, preservatives, artificial flavors and colors were still unthinkable. To this day they contain no colorings or preservatives and no flavor enhancers. Only ripe fruits and sugar/honey are used.
Over the last two decades, Beirabaga has won many medals and awards in various national competitions for fruit spreads made from traditional Portuguese fruits.

    According to Directive 2001/113/EC, the term “jam”, which is widespread in Germany and Austria, may no longer be used if the fruit spread does not only consist of citrus fruits.
