The dog gnaws and slowly scrapes the piece off. The pieces are extremely durable.

The Portuguese heather root is a 100% natural product and is made by hand. Each piece is unique.
The pieces pictured here are an example. Each piece is very different in shape, color and texture.
Many of these pieces are so pretty that you would want to use them as paperweights or for decoration or as a hand flatterer.

The production is complex and time-consuming:
-After harvesting, the roots are watered for 1 year
-This causes the root pieces to lose their root juices
-and are cold fermented and freed from tannins and bitter substances
-The pieces are then tumbled, which gives them a nice, rounded shape
-after drying, the roots are brushed by hand
